Guiding Principles

Our Guiding Principles

In the course of our work, there have been great changes in the world landscape of museum design and planning. We have had the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of museums, and our design philosophy as a firm has developed accordingly. We are guided by these key design principles:

Our Guiding Principles
Every Museum is Unique

Every Museum is Unique

Every museum represents the unique confluence of its mission, site, community, and support. A museum’s architecture should express the mission and personality of the institution and creatively express each museum’s unique identity while meeting functional needs in ways that surprise and delight both visitors and staff.

Mission-Driven Planning and Design

Our goal is to help create successful museums – museums that take exceptional care of their collections, provoke remarkable educational experiences, and are loved by their communities. They respond to each museum’s mission with ingenious and spirited solutions that tie together and resolve complex needs.

Mission-Driven Planning And Design
A Compelling Visitor Experience Is Essential

A Compelling Visitor Experience is Essential

The architecture should create a set of spaces where visitors feel safe, welcome, emotionally engaged, and intellectually inspired. A museum’s architecture must draw inspiration from its subject and/ or collections, and create exciting environments to enhance the stories they tell.
